I first practised Yoga in Granada with classes held outdoors on a terrace underneath the Alhambra. You can imagine I am sure the scents and sounds which enveloped me. Fast forward a number of years and here I am in Milton enjoying equally as much practising in nature with Julie. Whilst the backdrop may be different and whilst sometimes we may be layered up against the elements, nonetheless there is something equally as special lying here in savasana with the trees swaying above and the grass beneath me. When we talk of grounding and finding a sense of rootedness with the earth, there really is no better place to be than in nature. It is on my mat that I find peace and it is here in Milton Country Park practising with Julie that there is a real live connection literally with the ground. Part of the earth, fully supported, treating my nature deficit with mud, rain and a freedom to not care about how anything looks. Truly special moments with a truly special guide.

What I LOVE about SUP yoga is the serenity and peacefulness of the location, and the fluidity of the movement that comes with it. The yoga sequences flow very well and the use of the paddle to do upper body stretches is a lovely addition. I was nervous to try SUP yoga at first, but I signed up because I love Julie’s teaching and was curious to try. I have never been on a SUP board, so was a complete beginner on this side of the scale. Julie made the experience wonderful, and seem so easy, in fact I enjoyed it so much that I came back for more sessions. There’s something so beautiful about doing yoga, slap-bang in the middle of nature, it was very calming, but at the same time, a great workout. You leave feeling all these little muscles that you’ve never used before, it’s quite an experience! I highly recommend giving it a go, whether you’re a beginner on a SUP board like I was, or a beginner to yoga, as the sequence is quite simple, rather the focus is on learning how to balance on a SUP board. Julie is a fantastic teacher who generates a feeling of ease, whilst teaching an enjoyable and fulfilling class on the water.

Julie’s SUP yoga was my first introduction in to the practice and having been to yoga on and off I thought it might be fun. It was exhilarating and calming strengthening and rejuvenating so much that it has now become one of the things I most look forward too. Not needing any paddle board skills just a good sense of fun. Julie's SUP sessions at Milton Country Park are absolutely incredible. I'm an experienced yoga practitioner but had never done SUP yoga before I went to Julie's class. Julie made the experience absolutely delightful from start to finish. She explained how to use the SUP board, she took us to the most peaceful spot in the middle of the lake where she guided us through the most relaxing and peaceful yoga class. Despite the fact I was in the middle of a lake balancing on a board, I felt so calm and connected to the nature around me. Julie explained each posture and movement clearly and talked us through the nuances of doing them on a paddle board giving us lots of options and modifications. Her teaching style is inclusive and kind so if you felt like having a lay down and bobbing along on the water you could and similarly, if you wanted a challenge the option was there for you. I felt like I was in safe hands with an experienced and knowledgeable teacher and I can't wait to get back out on the lake with Julie, she is amazing!
